New Mexico ..... Land of Enchantment

New Mexico truly lives up to its motto "The Land of enchantment". It is unlike any of the other western states in that it its Spanish Colonial and Native American history is strongly infused in its traditions and architecture. Yet, while embracing its strong historic and ethnic culture, it has been the birthpalce of technology that has changed the world forever, The atomic bomb was developed and the first one detonated in New Mexico. Software giant Microsoft was founded in Albuquerque.

My first exposure to this amazing state came in 1960 when I was in the US Air Force stationed at Kirtland AFB in Albuqurque. Carole joined me ther in 1961. We were fortunate to live there until mid 1963. Since that time we have made many trips back including twice to attend the "Hot Air Balloon Fiesta" held in Albuquerque in October of each year. It is the biggest gathering and mass launch of hot air balloons in the world, with up to as many as 1000 beautiful and odd shaped balloons. Mass launches of hundreds take place at dawn each day.

Come with us and visit Indian Pueblos, museums and festivals, ghost towns, Carlsbad Caverns, White Sands, Santa Fe, Taos and more. See why this state is Enchanting. The program is in production and is anticipated to be available in summer of 2019.

This presentation differs significantly from the "old family style slide show" of the past. Using modern digital technology, it includes multiple soundtracks for narration and local background music, pan and zoom effects ala "Ken Burns" (Jazz, Baseball, The Civil War...on PBS), movie clips and animation. It is a truly multi-media show.

We will introduce the program with a discussion of background information and follow it with a question and answer period. The program includes a brief review of the history of the area. Significant currents events may be included in the discussion. Our large size photographic prints of scenes from the show will be displayed and discussed.  The formal show runs about 35 minutes and the total presentation from 60-90 minutes.
